Land Rover Parts
Land Rover has built up a large, world wide fan base for its 4x4 vehicles
launched in 1948. At one time it was suggested that 75% of all land Rovers
produced were still on the road.
The 2009 J. D. Power dependability report
must have been a little disquieting for fans and owners alike launch
x431. Land Rover only scored 2/5 for overall dependability. The Vehicle
Dependability Study
(VDS) looked at owner-reported problems in the first 3
years of new-vehicle ownership. The score was based on problems that have caused
a complete breakdown or malfunction of any
component, feature, or item
(i.e., components that stop working or trim pieces that break or come
loose).
Unfortuantely Land Rover also only scored 2/5 for powertrain dependability,
2/5 for body and interior dependability, and 2/5 for fearures & accessories
dependability. The industry average showed
that on average there were 170
reported faults per 100 vehicles. land Rover languished 3rd from bottom with 238
problems per 100 hundred vehicles. That said there is a reported trend of
improvement
which Land Rover enthusists will applaud.
The NY Times reported that Land Rover's North America spokeman as saying 'the
automaker was working hard to improve the quality of its vehicles'. Further
encouragement can be gleaned
from J launch
x431 v pro. D. Powers's vice president for automotive research, John
Sargeant, in that he mentions Land Rover's "fairly dramatic uptick". Whilst
customer satisfaction with dealership in the survey had land Rover ranked
7th and 9th for the survey section which looks at "how gratifying a new
vehicle is to own and drive".
Land Rover has a reputation for rugged dependability so perhaps its 4x4
prowess will not always translate well into a more suburban market where build
quality is king.
A bit of brake dust and a loose trim may not matter to a
contractor, farmer or enthusiast but it will be picked up by the moneyed
suburbanite who has a large range of superb quality cars
to chose from. Good
quality is a market requirement not a 'nice to have' any more.
Whatever the surveys say Land Rover is selling in even greater numbers. In
the period October to December 2009, Land Rover UK sales were up 93% year on
year. Range Rover was voted as
car of the decade by Autocar.
Any vehicle will need need maintenance and replacement parts over time.
Having a premium vehicle doesn't always mean that you have to pay a premium
price for spare parts.
Every day cars are being written off as being beyond
economical repair yet may have hundreds of serviceable parts and components.
These vehicles are broken down for their recyclable parts
by professional car
dismantlers. These salvage parts would be original manufacture components and
available to purchase at a fraction of the new part price. It would also be a
part that was
manufactured for that car - it wouldn't be an imitation. Some
car dismantlers even provide a guarantee of up to 90 days.
