Much Needed Auto Insurance

There are a handful of things one needs before they can begin driving legally on the highways and byways of the United States. The first thing needed is to be of legal age, depending on which state the person calls their residence. Second, once of legal age, that person must pass driver's education, a specified time of behind the wheel instruction with a licensed instructor and obtain a permit to drive with a parent or guardian for a specified amount of time. Thirdly, the person must then pass the driving test at a local DMV test office. Insurance companies will also lower the rate of its clients' premiums if they stay accident free for a specified period of time or if they are ticket free for a specified period of time.

Automotive insurance can get expensive if the driver continues to be involved in accidents or is routinely ticketed by police for various driving offenses. Also, a lot of insurance companies will reward drivers that are still in high school or college lower rates for good grades. Usually, if you average a "B" or better and send your insurance company an official transcript of your grades, you will receive a discount on your premium.

Drivers in Dallas, Texas be forewarned. The Dallas City Council approved a new law that allows police officers to tow your vehicle on the spot if you are pulled over and you do not have any auto insurance. The law becomes active in January of 2010.
